May 2004- Portsmouth, NH- Bresette + Company, Inc. is pleased to announce the successful launch of the first annual Bayside Better Living Home and Garden Expo in Boston, MA, on April 1st-4th, 2004. The show was designed as an upscale alternative to other home shows in the Boston area, and was met with huge success. Besides torrential downpours on the opening night and inclement weather throughout the weekend, estimates put attendance well above the 20,000 attendee target.
The Expo consisted of over three hundred exhibits from varying businesses and industries in the region. Most exhibitors were centered around the home with businesses such as The Home Improvement Store, Emerald Green Lawn Care, and Creative Carpet Design taking part. Other exhibits ranged from home media centers to outdoor sport courts to custom designed kitchens and bathrooms. However, there were alternative exhibits to keep attendees entertained such as a Hinkley Yaht, an Infiniti automobile for your driveway, and a wine tasting for those thirsty from all the excitement.
Bresette went to great efforts to make sure advertising measures were received by the targeted audience, and not wasted on uninterested consumers. By building this year’s attendance, the expectation is that more exhibitors will follow in coming years; therefore, advertising and marketing was limited to the consumer end. The central target audience was adults 25-54 of household incomes of over $75,000, with a slight lean towards females. Geographically, the campaign was limited to a primary market of the greater Boston metropolitan area, with secondary markets of Southern New Hampshire and Rhode Island. Bresette utilized various media sources from local newspapers (i.e. Boston Herald & Globe) to local radio (i.e. WBZ, WBOS, WXKS) to television stations (i.e. WBZ, WSBK). In addition, creative and specialized promotional activities were implemented into this campaign. For instance, a $25,000 pre-paid credit card promotion was created in conjunction with Greater Media. This provided a lucky contestant the opportunity to partake in a virtual shopping spree at the four day event. Other examples included a US Airways Vacation Getaway to Jamaica and appearances by Billy Costa and Neal Roberts.
